Last week, we launched our 2026 State of SPM Report, showcasing the latest data on planning and execution strategies from almost 700 business leaders.

It highlighted the financial consequences of poor alignment and slow decision-making, and what separates high-performing teams from their peers with real numbers to back it up.

The report has resonated with its audience – being picked up by multiple news sites and websites that are highlighting key findings and sharing them with their communities.

The roundup

  • The Agile Brand Guide highlighted the true cost of strategic drift, showcasing that failed projects and clunky planning is costing organizations an estimated $260 million annually for every $880 million in strategic spend.

  • IntelligentCIO noted the finding that nearly 1-in-3 enterprise projects are not delivering meaningful ROI.

  • ERPNews brought attention to the data round technology – discussing how organizations using scenario planning are nearly twice as confident in their ability to respond to change (85% versus 46%) and are three times more likely to use AI extensively in planning workflows (36% versus 12%).

  • VMBlog covered a wide selection of the top statistics – including the finding that understanding team capacity is the #1 barrier to executing strategy, cited by 30% of respondents, followed closely by prioritization and resource allocation.

  • PMToday dug into the “cancellation paradox” – data showing that higher project cancellation rates and frequent review cycles were also associated with better outcomes.

  • DigitalCxO discussed a key piece of analysis from the report – the way the data created two groups of organizations with the opposite characteristics: Dynamic Planners and Plodders. The drastic differences between their performance, and the characteristics are explored in the full report.
