What do you like most about Strategic Roadmaps?

One of the things that I like about Strategic Roadmaps the most is that it's very user-friendly. When I’m creating a roadmap, I know exactly where I need to go to export my data into a CSV file, easily fill those fields out in an offline Excel sheet, and then re-upload them into a beautiful roadmap on Roadmaps. This has eliminated a lot of the manual work we used to do. All of my team’s roadmaps now are automatically synced with one another. Additionally, they love the visual aspect of the tool. We can quickly get a look at our roadmap for the entire year and then move different blocks of work around each quarter. If there are any delays or roadblocks, we can quickly gain sight of them and manage our path forward.

What's the biggest impact Strategic Roadmaps has had on your team?

Thanks to Strategic Roadmaps, our team is finally able to work with a backlog. Before, we’d log items in OneNote or somewhere offline. This would eventually lead to those ideas and pieces of feedback getting lost. Having a backlog in our roadmapping tool, though, lets us quickly find opportunities to build these ideas out or present them to leadership. Speaking of which – Strategic Roadmaps is excellent in the boardroom.

A lot of the time, we just bring up Strategic Roadmaps when we’re presenting to leadership. They’re able to gain a holistic view of our priorities for the year very quickly. Our team is very cross-functional. So, having this transparency and communication lets us allocate resources and priorities effectively across the organization. Again, thanks to how visual the tool is, we’re able to gain visibility into the status of a project fast. Whether it’s at 25% or 75%, the color-coding system helps us keep a pulse on where we are at any given time.

If a colleague of yours was shopping for a roadmapping tool, how would you convince them to give Strategic Roadmaps a shot?

The best way to tell a colleague why they should give Strategic Roadmaps a shot is just by showing them what we have been able to accomplish with our roadmaps. Funny enough, when my team and I started using Roadmaps in our discussions, it organically turned a few heads from other departments.

In fact, a couple of other teams in our company started playing around with the product as a result. They immediately saw the benefit of having the visual granularity of understanding where their roadmap is and where it might be at the end of the year. The colleagues of ours that were still using manual processes didn’t waste any time jumping ship and taking Strategic Roadmaps for a spin.
