For this Tempo Timesheets tip of the month, we take a closer look on Worklog Validation. This is a handy diagnostic for any administrator to find out why their users are having difficulties logging or editing their work logs.
There are a number of reasons why a user would be unable to add or edit a worklog and it could be due to one or more reasons. Common reasons for users not being able to log work or edit worklogs include, but are not limited to, the Tempo period status being closed, the Timesheet Workflow status being closed, and the Tempo Scheduler settings.
To access the Worklog Validation page, please take the following steps:
- Log in as a user with the Tempo Administrator permission.
- Select Administration from the Tempo drop-down menu in the top navigation bar, choose Worklog Validation (left tabs).
Here below is how the Worklog Validation appears by default. Make sure you pick the correct date, where the user had problems logging or editing work. To find the user in question, simply type the first letters of their name/username in the ‘Username’ box and the user should appear.

Recent issues are shown in the 'Issue Key' dropdown menu, but other issues that the user has been working on can be found simply by typing the the first few letters of the issue into the 'Issue Key' box.

Once the administrator has selected the date, the user, and the issue, click the ‘Validate’ button to get the result. Below we can see the validation result, as we can see how come the worklog hours aren’t editable. In this example, the period has been closed.
